Wedding times are undoubtedly one of the most memorable times in anybody’s life. Everyone desires to look their best during the wedding as moments captured during this occasion are etched for infinity.
Should I undergo LASIK before My Wedding? While wearing spectacles come in our way of looking good, wearing contact lenses can be very cumbersome and not Comfortable when worn for long hours. It’s very difficult to manage contact lenses with all the wedding makeup and rituals making Laser Vision Correction the best option to permanently find relief from Glasses and Contact Lenses. I want to share my experiences with people and the reasons behind undergoing LASIK and also take you through the Journey of LASER VISION CORRECTION.
Reasons Behind LASIK Before My Wedding;
- Most people undergoing LASIK have expressed that they are undergoing the procedure to look good in their wedding photos.
- People have told me that they want to experience the beauty of life during and post the wedding without using glasses and contact lenses.
- A few people have told me that with glasses, it was difficult to find matches and people actually avoid anyone wearing spectacles when choosing a partner. Some families avoid potential alliances wearing glasses as they feel the younger generation will also have eyesight issues due to genetics. Unfortunately, I have seen this happen in the urban population as well.
- People also wish to travel the world with their partners without having to wear spectacles or contact lenses. For someone dependent on glasses or contacts, experiencing normal vision without them is a blissful experience.
- Wear sunglasses during travel
Best Time To Undergo LASIK Surgery:
I feel it’s best to plan the surgery at least a month before the wedding, as no makeup should be worn near the eyes for at least 3 weeks after the procedure. so, this has to be carefully planned!! Water cannot enter the eyes for at least one week after the procedure. Though one can have a normal bath after the procedure, they’ll have to be extremely careful while getting their hair washed. They can brush their teeth and can clean the face around the eyes with sterile wipes that are provided after the procedure.
Avoiding Dust: It’s wedding shopping time and you will have to be very careful and avoid dust for 2-3 weeks after LASIK. You’ll have to wear large Sunglasses or protective glasses provided during travel if it’s really necessary. you’ll have to use eye drops for 4 weeks as prescribed to avoid getting an eye infection.
You have to avoid swimming for at least a month after LASIK. You cannot allow sand or dust to enter your eyes. avoid rubbing your eyes. If in case sand or some foreign particle enters your eyes it’s better to use the antibiotic drops and see the nearest eye care specialist who can help you. So during your honeymoon, I’d recommend you carry antibiotic drops and artificial tears in your travel pouch. Do research about where you can find help in case of emergency before travelling.
Avoid UV light: Always wear sunglasses in sunlight, even when it’s cloudy as clouds reflect UV light. Even snow reflects UV light and so does water. So it’s crucial to wear sunglasses on the beach or in the mountains. Even if you are on the cruise, protect your eyes against UV light. UV light can do some damage to the eyes, especially in certain types of LASIK so it’s very important to protect our eyes.
Exercise and Diet post LASIK:
A light workout a week after LASIK is permissible, but lifting weights has to be increased gradually over the months. You shouldn’t start lifting weights soon after LASIK. vitamins’ levels need to be ensured, especially Vitamin C. Alcohol should be avoided for up to a month as it aggravates dry eyes and alters tissue healing. Smoke aggravates dry eyes, so avoiding a smoky environment is better.
So what is the best to get LASIK done? A few months before your wedding. around 3-5 months prior, so that you get the needed time off and yet later in time for all your shopping and running around as the dates come closer. Do plan to get rid of those glasses permanently months before your wedding so you can enjoy all the blissful moments.
