What is pupilloplasty?

Pupilloplasty is eye surgery, It is commonly used to repair damaged or non functional Iris Tissue, and recreates the proper size and shape of the pupil while maintaining the structural integrity of the iris tissue.

 

Symptoms of Damaged Pupil and why Pupiloplasty needs to be done

  • Functional or optical indications
  • To Provide Relief from Double vision/ Defective Vision.
  • To provide structural support for lens implantation
  • To prevent post-operative complications as in PKP (penetrating keratoplasty)
  • To relieve appositional angle closure or PAS (peripheral anterior synechiae)
  • To provide more cosmetically acceptable pupils.

Pupiloplasty Can be done in Several Ways and will be recommended by your eye surgeon if this is required only.
