ABOUT EYE SPECIALIST Dr. APPAJI GOWDA

Dr. Appaji Gowda is the chairman of Vijaya Nethralaya Super Speciality Eye Hospital. He earned his MBBS from Mysore University in 1979 and his MS in Ophthalmology from Minto Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Bangalore University in 1985. He has a special interest in Phaco Emulsification with Foldable Lens Implantation and Micro Incision Cataract Surgery. He also has experience in corneal transplantation, Lasik, and glaucoma surgeries.

He started his ophthalmology practice in a small clinic. He had a great vision for growth and began building his first eye hospital. The hospital was shifted to the current building in July 2010 at Nagarbhavi’s 2nd stage, Bangalore. Once only an eye clinic became a multi-specialty eye hospital and started growing year by year. He was always motivating and inspiring his team to grow with him.

Also, he served as an Eye surgeon and medical director at Vijaya Nethralaya Super specialty eye hospital, Bangalore. The clinic is one of the leading Eye hospitals in Bangalore, Dr. A. Gowda has treated over 160000+ patients to date. Today, it is offering a wide range of eye care treatments and Eye specialties like Cataract Surgery, Retinal treatment, Lasik, Refractive Surgery, Glaucoma, Squint eye, pediatric ophthalmology & many more.

PAPERS PRODUCED:

Out of the four papers submitted to the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeries (ASCRS), these four were accepted and presented at the Annual Conferences held in Sandiego, Los Angeles in May 2004, and Washington DC in April 2005.

The papers were as follows:

• Prevention of Posterior Capsular Block.
• High Vacuum Aspiration of lens Epithelial Cells: An effective technique to prevent PCO.
• Glaucoma and Cataract incisions at the common site.
• Comparison of PCO rates of four loops versus two loops lenses.
